Mission description and responsibilities:
- Project Overview Supporting, improving standards and exiting of Primary Health Care in the main project areas;
- Capacity building of local staff ;
- Refresher courses for health care ;
- Reproductive Health project, health promotion through community health programs ; Sustainable improvement in access to an usage of safe water supply and sanitation practices among host and potential returnee populations in targeted communities.
- Main Responsibilities to develop, lead, monitor and evaluate the medical part of the country program; to provide capacity building for national and international staff ; and to contribute to the overall management of the country program.
Profile / Qualifications:
Registered Medical Doctor or Registered Nurse with experience in tropical medicine
Experience:
at least 5 years of previous experience, of which :
- 2 years work experience in PHC in emergency situations and additional 1 year in leadership role (Project Management Experience)
- 3 years of overseas experience
Advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills :
- Diplomatic abilities, especially for working with authorities
- Experience in training / mentoring staff
- A knowledge of development issues is crucial ; a knowledge of development programs and policies is highly desirable as well as a familiarity with project management tools
- Knowledge and experience in one or more programming or cross-cutting sectors, including VSLA, Economic development
- RFP & unsolicited program development experience; including logistic frame design
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong written English and oral French required
- Organizational planning ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail and quality
- Budget compliance and oversight
- Monitoring, reporting and evaluation ; program planning/implementation
- Project Development & Design
- Work well in team context /participatory development
Conditions :
Status : short-termed contract of 12 monthsSalary / Indemnities : allowance based upon the grade of the position and experience of the position-holderBased on different contracts offered by CARE and MEDAIR in the end of November 2009, and expected to be fulfilled in January 2010.
